Breakout above range

Price has been trading sideways inside a tight range. The upper edge has been tested 3 times. Each rejection got smaller, sellers are getting weaker.

Why it works: When a clear horizontal level finally breaks, traders waiting above add fuel and shorts cover. The first pullback that holds the broken level is usually the cleanest entry.

Spot the range
Mark the horizontal ceiling around the highs. Price has tagged it 3 times without closing above.

Breakout candle
A strong green candle closes above the level. Do NOT enter yet — many breakouts fake out within 1–2 candles.

Enter on retest
Price pulls back to the broken level and forms a small bullish candle. Enter long.

Stop loss
Place stop just below the retest low. If buyers were real, they will defend this level. If not, you’re out cheap.

First target
Target = range height projected upward from breakout. This is a clean 2R take-profit zone.

Trail or exit
Take partials at target, trail the rest under each new higher low. Banking 2R beats hoping for 5R.

Lesson to remember

A breakout is only valid AFTER it holds. Chasing the first green candle = paying the top. Wait for the retest.
